Police are investigating a jewellery store break in and car fire overnight.
About 4.45am Tuesday 13 May, Mount Gambier police were called to an alarm activation at a jewellery store on Commercial Street West. On arrival, patrols found the front windows of the store smashed and an amount of jewellery had been stolen.
Crime scene investigators attended the scene and the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
About 7.30am Tuesday 13 May, police and firefighters were called to Willow Avenue, Mount Gambier after reports that a car was on fire in a reserve. Fire crews extinguished the blaze which fully destroyed the Holden wagon. Mount Gambier police commenced an investigation into the incident with reports that people were seen running from the area around the time of the fire.
Investigators are working to determine if these incidents are linked.
