Northern suburbs man charged over CEM and reporting obligations

13 May 2025 3:41pm

A northern suburbs man was arrested today for possession of child exploitation material and breaching his reporting conditions.

Detectives arrested and charged the 54-year-old man with these offences and bailed him to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on 25 May.

Detective Acting Chief Inspector Luke Smith, Officer in Charge Offender Management Section states, “The impact of child abuse imagery extends far beyond the immediate victim. Each time these images are viewed, the child is re-victimised, perpetuating their trauma and suffering. Possessing and distributing child abuse material fuels a global industry that exploits and harms children.”

Members of the public who have information about people involved in child abuse and exploitation are urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or www.accce.gov.au/report

If you know abuse is happening right now or a child is at risk call police immediately on Triple Zero (000).
