Update: Fatal crash at Virginia

A rider has died following a fatal crash at Virginia today.

Just after 5.30pm, Tuesday 10 May, patrols and paramedics were called to Old Port Wakefield Road, after a motor cycle and a Holden utility crashed.

Sadly, the 18-year-old rider from Burton, died at the scene. The driver of the utility, a 22-year-old man from Lewiston, was not injured.

Old Port Wakefield Road remains closed between Penfield Road/Sheedy Road and Nash Road while investigators from Major Crash examine the scene.

The man's death is the 28th life lost on our roads as compared to 40 for the same time last year. This is the 6th motor cycle rider to die on our roads this year.
