Fatal crash at Modbury Heights

A woman has died following a crash at Modbury Heights this morning.

Police and emergency services were called to Melrose Street at about 9.45am on Wednesday 10 June after reports that a pedestrian had been struck by a rubbish truck.

Tragically, the pedestrian, a 23-year-old woman from Modbury Heights, died at the scene.

The truck driver, a 48-year-old man from Prospect, was not physically injured.

Major Crash investigators attended the scene to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Road closures were in place for several hours but have since been lifted.

As a result of investigations, the truck driver was reported for careless driving causing death. He has been issued with an instant loss of licence and will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

The woman’s death is the 49th life lost on South Australian roads this year.
