Occupants escape injury after caravan rolls at St Ives

About 12.30pm on Saturday 5 September, police and emergency services were called to the South Eastern Freeway at St Ives, about 5km west of Callington, after a SsangYong SUV towing a caravan jack-knifed in the Murray Bridge-bound lanes.

The driver, a 66-year-old man from Redwood Park, and his passenger, a woman in her 60s, were not physically injured.

Traffic restrictions were in place while the scene was cleared and the vehicle and caravan, which rolled onto its side during the crash, were towed from the scene.

Investigations into the cause of the crash are continuing; however, police believe strong winds in the area at the time may have been a contributing factor.
