Burnout driver arrested at Golden Grove

A man has been arrested after performing a burnout and failing to stop for police overnight.

About 2.45am on Sunday 9 August, police were patrolling The Grove Way when they saw a Holden sedan performing a burnout at the intersection of The Golden Way and The Grove Way.

Police attempted to stop the car however the driver failed to stop. Due to safety concerns police did not follow the car and made enquiries to identify the driver.

Just after 3am police attended an address on Cuthbert Court where the car and driver were located. The driver initially ran from police but was arrested following a short foot chase.

The 38-year-old Golden Grove man was charged with misuse of a motor vehicle, failing to stop for police and resisting arrest.

He was bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court at a later date.

The car was impounded for 28 days.
