A driver has been reported for excessive speed after being detected travelling at 68km/h over the speed limit at McLaren Vale today.
About 4.15pm on Saturday 24 October, police were conducting speed detection duties on McMurtrie Road when they detected a Volkswagen hatchback travelling at 148km/h in an 80km/h speed zone.
Police stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver, a 22-year-old man from Aldinga Beach.
He was reported for excessive speed and issued an instant loss of licence for six months.
The car was impounded for 28 days and he will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
Southern District police have a strong focus on road safety and will continue to conduct speed detection and enforcement activities throughout the area.
Excessive and inappropriate speed significantly increases the risk and severity of crashes, and police will take enforcement action against motorists who choose to disregard speed limits and put other road users in danger.
