Limestone Coast trio arrested in stolen car

About 2.45pm on Saturday 24 October, police spotted a stolen red Holden Colorado ute on Penola Road at Mount Gambier. The ute had been reported stolen from Victoria and was involved in a fuel drive off earlier.

Police pursued the ute as it travelled south through the township and out to Talbot Road before police were able to spike its tyres on Yells Road at Moorak.

Officers continued to follow the ute as its tyres deflated along the Riddoch Highway. The ute came to a stop in Buck Road and three people attempted to flee on foot but were quickly arrested by patrols.

A 33-year-old man and 33-year-old woman from Mount Gambier, along with a 31-year-old man from Yahl, were arrested and charged with illegal use of a motor vehicle and hindering police.

The Yahl man was alleged to be the driver and was further charged with dangerous driving to cause a police pursuit and driving while disqualified.

The two men will appear in the Mount Gambier Magistrates Court on Monday while the woman was bailed to appear on 8 December.
