Southern suburbs man arrested after domestic assault

The man’s partner fled to a police station last night, Wednesday 14 October, to report an alleged assault.

Police then attended the couple’s address about 10.30pm and arrested the man.

He was charged with assault and bailed to reside at another address until his appearance in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on 3 November.

As well as facing serious charges, the man was issued a Police Interim Intervention Order (PIIO), which provides further protection for the victim.

These are immediately enforceable, cover firearms, and may require the accused person to immediately vacate the home address or return items of personal property belonging to the protected person.

Police encourage anyone experiencing domestic violence to contact them immediately for assistance.
