15 Oct 2026 6:46am

A drink driver has escaped injury after mounting a footpath and colliding with a traffic light at Malvern overnight.

About 11.30pm on Wednesday 14 October, police were called to Unley Road at Malvern, after reports a grey Holden SUV had left the roadway, mounted the footpath and collided with a traffic light.

Patrols attended and located the driver, who caused significant damage to his vehicle but was uninjured.

The driver, a 41-year-old interstate man, underwent a breath test which returned a positive reading of 0.164, more than three times the legal limit.

He was reported for drink driving and driving without due care, and issued with an immediate 12-month loss of licence. He will be summonsed to appear in the Magistrates Court at a later date.
