Quintet of robbers arrested at South Plympton

Police have arrested five boys after a street robbery at South Plympton overnight.

About 10.30pm Friday 10 May, police were called to Jervois Street, South Plympton after reports that a teenage boy had been robbed.

The victim reported that he was walking through a nearby park when he was approached by two people dressed in balaclavas, who threatened him with a knife and stole his phone. Thankfully, the victim a 15-year-old boy wasn’t physically injured as a result of the incident.

The victim called his parents following the incident and provided a description of the suspects. The victim’s parents, who promptly attended the area to collect the youth, spotted the suspects on Jervois Street huddled around a car and they directed patrols to the area.

Patrols located the five suspects on Jervois Street and they were swiftly arrested.

Police searched the car where it is alleged that they located balaclavas and various weapons. The victim’s phone was also located and returned to him.

Three 17-year-old boys, a 16-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy, all from the northern suburbs were charged with aggravated robbery, carrying an offensive weapon and various other offences. Three of the boys were refused police bail and will appear in the Adelaide Youth Court on Monday 12 May. Two boys were granted police bail and will appear in the Youth Court at a later date.

Southern District detectives in collaboration from the Youth and Street Gang Task Force are investigating this matter and anyone with information, who was a witness or has CCTV of this incident is asked to come forward.
