Man charged with firearms offences at Noarlunga Downs

A man has been arrested and charged with firearms offences and a man reported following a vehicle stop at Noarlunga Downs on Thursday night.

Just after 10.25pm on Thursday 13 August, patrols stopped and searched a vehicle and the driver on Barcelona Drive and allegedly located ammunition and a gel blaster hand gun.

The driver, a 27-year-old man from Huntfield Heights was arrested and charged with possessing ammunition without a licence and possession of a category A firearm. He was refused police bail and faced the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on Friday 14 August.

Following investigations, Christies Beach and Aldinga District Policing Teams searched two southern suburbs addresses and allegedly located a number of prohibited weapons, including 11 knives, three hatchets, two homemade spears, suspected illicit substances and drug paraphernalia.

As a result of the search, a 54-year-old Huntfield Heights man was reported for eight counts of possessing prohibited weapons, while a 32-year-old woman was issued a drug diversion.

Further items seized during the search remain subject to ongoing investigation and forensic examination.
