Athol Park homes targeted by Molotov cocktails

Just before 3.30am on Saturday 15 August, police and fire crews were called to The Avenue, Athol Park by reports of a fire in the front yard.

Patrols arrived and extinguished a small fire in the front yard.  The fire did not impact the property.

Then at 6.15am, police received a second report of a potential fire at a neighbouring property on The Avenue, Athol Park.

The occupants managed to evacuate safely after the house filled with smoke.  The fire had spread within the front wall cavity of the home and caused extensive damage.

Western District CIB detectives and crime scene investigators attended and examined both scenes.
