Man charged after domestic violence incident

18 Oct 2026 1:50pm

A southern suburbs man has been arrested following a violent domestic violence incident south of Adelaide.

Police were called to a southern suburbs home just after midday on Sunday 18 October following reports of a domestic incident.

It will be alleged the man choked his partner, a woman in her 30s, threatened her with a knife and damaged her clothing.

Patrols quickly attended and arrested the man without incident.

The 43-year-old man was charged with choking a person in a domestic setting, aggravated assault and property damage. He was refused police bail and will appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on Monday 19 October.

In addition to the charges, the man was issued with a Police Interim Intervention Order (PIIO), which provides police with greater powers to take immediate action to protect victim-survivors and their families from physical violence, as well as threatening and controlling behaviour.

Police urge anyone experiencing domestic violence to seek help and report incidents to police. In an emergency, call Triple Zero (000).
