Car crashes with train at Ascot Park

Just before 7am, police and emergency services were called to the railway crossing near Railway Terrace and Sixth Avenue, Ascot Park after reports of a crash between a Mitsubishi station wagon and a train.

The driver, a 26-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

There were no other reports of injuries and the road and railway line will remain closed until the scene has been cleared.

Investigations are continuing.

Police encourage everyone using the road and rail network to prioritise safety around railway crossings and exercise caution when approaching active rail corridors.
