Arrests made after Unley Park theft

About 4.15pm on Sunday 2 August, police received reports of two men removing copper cladding from an art installation at Heywood Park.

The men appeared to be presenting as tradesmen and were dressed in bright yellow high-vis vests and blue pants.

After removing the cladding, the two men left in a white Holden VS Ute.

Southern District patrols responded and searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect vehicle at that time.

As a result of further investigations, a 51-year-old man from Mitcham was arrested and charged with theft and property damage. He didn’t apply for bail and appeared in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on 3 August.

A subsequent search was undertaken at a Kingswood address where police located the stolen copper cladding.

On Wednesday 12 August, a 30-year-old Mitcham woman was reported for theft. She will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

Investigations are continuing and further arrests are expected.
