A man has been arrested following two fires at Salisbury this morning.
About 7.15am on Saturday 20 June, police and MFS responded to reports of a fire at a restaurant on John Street. The external wood panelling to the business had been set alight.
Staff on site attempted to extinguish the fire prior to fire crews attending. Thankfully it didn’t cause significant damage and was extinguished before it could spread to neighbouring properties.
A short time later, about 8am, a second fire was reported at a reserve just east of Salisbury Highway. Fence posts near to the train tracks were set alight.
Northern District CIB and Crime Scene investigators attended the scene and deemed the fires had been deliberately lit.
Police located the suspect still in the area and was subsequently arrested on Gawler Street.
A 42-year-old man of no fixed address was charged with arson and property damage. He was refused bail to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Monday.
