06 Jul 2026 11:44am

A man has been arrested following a firearm incident at Renmark last week.

Police will allege the suspect threatened another man known to him with a homemade firearm during a dispute at a Renmark home on Wednesday 1 July.

No shots were fired and the victim was not injured.

Police attended the address and conducted a search, allegedly locating illegal testosterone.

Following further investigations by Murray Mallee police, a 36-year-old Renmark man was arrested at Bower on Thursday 2 July and charged with endangering life and possessing a prescription drug. He was also charged with creating a false belief in relation to an unrelated incident that occurred in the days prior.

The man was refused police bail and appeared in the Berri Magistrates Court on Friday 3 July, where he was remanded in custody.

Acting on information received, police attended Old Cooltong Road, Cooltong, on Friday 3 July. Just after 2.30pm, officers located a firearm believed to be linked to the incident.

Investigations remain ongoing and further charges may be laid.

Police wish to reassure the community that this does not appear to be a random incident and there is no ongoing risk to public safety.
