Drivers caught under the influence on south-east roads

About 2pm on Friday 25 September, a 50-year-old Glengowrie man was stopped by police while driving on the Dukes Highway at Keith. The driver tested positive to cocaine and will be issued a fine and a three-month immediate loss of licence notice.

About 1:35pm on Saturday 26 September, a 23-year-old Mount Gambier man was stopped by police while driving on Commercial Street West in Mount Gambier. The driver tested positive to cocaine and will be issued a fine and a three-month immediate loss of licence notice.

About 3.45pm on Saturday 26 September, a 41-year-old Nangwarry man was stopped by police while driving on Boothy Street in Mount Gambier. The driver tested positive to cocaine and will be issued a fine and a three-month immediate loss of licence notice.

About 5.30pm on Saturday 26 September, a 39-year-old Wolseley woman was stopped by police while driving on Garnet Avenue in Wolseley. The driver tested positive to methamphetamine and cannabis and will be issued a fine and a three-month immediate loss of licence notice.

About 8.35pm on Saturday 26 September, a 23-year-old Mount Gambier man was stopped by police while driving on Tumut Drive in Mount Gambier. The driver tested positive to cocaine and cannabis and will be issued a three-month immediate loss of licence notice. Further checks revealed the driver was unlicensed and the vehicle was unregistered and uninsured. He was reported and will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

About 10 am on Sunday 27 September, a 20-year-old Joanna man was stopped by police while driving on Deviation Road, Naracoorte. The driver recorded a positive breath test reading of 0.144 and was reported for drink-driving. He was issued with a six-month immediate loss of licence notice and his vehicle was impounded by police for 28 days. He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

About 12.20am on Sunday 27 September, a 26-year-old Lucindale man was stopped by police while driving on Bay Road, Mount Gambier. The male provided a positive roadside breath test, before fleeing on foot from police. He was located a short time later and arrested for hindering police. He was further charged with failing to comply with a breath analysis test, providing false details, and driving disqualified. He was refused bail and will appear in court later today.

About 10.30pm on Sunday 27 September, a 20-year-old Mount Gambier woman was stopped by police while driving on Commercial Street West in Mount Gambier. The driver tested positive to cocaine and will be issued with a fine and a three-month immediate loss of licence notice.

About 12.40am on Monday 28 September, a 23-year-old Mount Gambier man was stopped by police while driving on Radiata Street, Mount Gambier. The driver recorded a positive breath test reading of 0.184 and was reported for drink-driving. He was issued a 12-month immediate loss of licence notice and his vehicle was impounded by police for 28 days. He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

Limestone Coast Police will be out on the roads during the school holidays targeting drivers who ignore the road rules and choose to drive with illicit substances in their systems. If you think you’re just over the limit, just don’t drive.
