Kangaroo Island man charged with child exploitation offences

A KI man has been arrested following an investigation into alleged child exploitation offending.

On Wednesday 19 August, investigators from the South Australian Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team (SA JACET), a joint task force comprising SAPOL's Public Protection Branch and the Australian Federal Police (AFP), arrested a 48-year-old Kangaroo Island man and charged him with possessing child exploitation material and taking steps to access child exploitation material.

The man was granted bail and will appear in the Kangaroo Island Magistrates Court on 16 November.

Acting Detective Chief Inspector Matthew Fitzpatrick, Officer in Charge of the Special Crime Investigation Section, said the arrest demonstrates law enforcement's ongoing commitment to protecting children from exploitation.

"This arrest reflects our tireless and unwavering commitment to protecting children, including safeguarding them from online predators.

"Every child deserves to be safe. Our investigators will continue to work closely with our partners to identify, investigate and prosecute anyone who seeks to exploit or harm children.", said Det. Chief Inspector Fitzpatrick.
