Two arrested with knives at Salisbury Interchange

At about 9.40pm on Thursday 17 September, police were called to the interchange after reports that two men were attempting to conceal large knives in their clothing near the public toilets.

Patrols quickly attended and located the suspects nearby.

One of the men allegedly discarded a meat cleaver before attempting to flee. Following a short foot pursuit, police arrested the man and seized the weapon.

A second man was searched and police allegedly located a knife concealed in his waistband. Police also allegedly located drug paraphernalia and a small quantity of cannabis.

The two men, aged 27 and 34, were arrested and charged with possessing a knife in a prescribed place.

The 27-year-old man was additionally charged with unlawful possession after police allegedly located property not belonging to him. He was also charged in relation to outstanding matters including three thefts and multiple breaches of bail.

The 34-year-old man was further charged with possessing equipment for use with a controlled drug and was issued with an expiation notice for possessing cannabis and possessing alcohol in a dry zone.

Both men were refused bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Friday 18 September.

Both men were also issued with 12-month transit barring orders.
