PolAir tracks dangerous driver through northern suburbs

A man has been arrested after attempting to evade police through Adelaide's northern suburbs on Wednesday night.
With the assistance of PolAir, police tracked the Holden as it travelled through Salisbury, Parafield, Parafield Gardens and Waterloo Corner. During the incident, the driver allegedly travelled at excessive speeds, drove on the wrong side of the road and overtook lines of traffic in a manner that placed other road users at risk.
The Holden was successfully spiked in Parafield Gardens.
About 9.15pm, the Holden stopped at the intersection of Heaslip Road and Huxtable Road, Waterloo Corner. The driver ran from the vehicle but was arrested by police a short distance away.
A search of the vehicle allegedly uncovered a meat cleaver, methamphetamine and illicit mushrooms.
The driver, a 31-year-old Salisbury Park man, was charged with offences including driving at an extreme speed, failing to stop for police, carrying an offensive weapon and possessing controlled drugs. He was refused police bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court today (Thursday 6 August).
The man was also issued with a 12-month immediate loss of licence, and the Holden was impounded for 28 days.
