Man arrested over sexual assault at Mount Pleasant

A man was arrested following an alleged sexual assault at Mount Pleasant overnight.

It will be alleged a man broke into a residential premises at Mount Pleasant and sexually assaulted the occupant.

Police were called just before 3am on Wednesday 20 May and searched the town and surrounding area with the assistance of Special Crime Investigation Section, STAR Group officers and Police Dog Enzo.

A suspect was located in the town centre just after 10.30am and arrested without incident.

The 27-year-old Salisbury man was charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass and rape.  He was refused bail and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Thursday 21 May.

It will be alleged that the arrested man and victim are not known to each other.

Police wish to reassure the public that this was an isolated incident, and no outstanding suspects are sought.

A vehicle believed to have been used by the suspect, a white 2000 Mazda Bravo utility was later found in the north-eastern suburbs.

It is not believed to be connected to the incident. It has still been seized by police for forensic examination.

Police would also like to hear from anyone who saw or interacted with the man in the area in the last 24 hours.  He is described as of Middle Eastern appearance, 175cm tall, with short black hair, unshaven and wearing a black shirt and sandy coloured pants.
