Man arrested after pursuit through the Western suburbs

A man has been arrested following a pursuit in the Western Suburbs this morning.

Just before 1.45am on Tuesday 7 May, police spotted a Mitsubishi ute bearing false number plates travelling on Hanson Road, Woodville Gardens.

Police followed the vehicle and directed the driver to stop on Park Ave, Semaphore South, however he refused, and the ute was followed through the back streets of Semaphore towards West Lakes.

At 2.05am patrols successfully spiked the vehicle at West Lake Boulevard and Military Road.

It continued to travel onto Grange Road where it drove onto the wrong side of the road through red traffic light at Findon Road.

The front tyre of the vehicle began to shred as it continued north on South Road through Regency Park.  ​

It continued South Road on the incorrect side of the expressway where the pursuit was terminated.

Patrols observed the vehicle from a safe distance and the wheels of the ute started to spark as it travelled east on Regency Road towards Churchill Road.

They followed the marks on the road left by the rims of the tyres through Clearview where it travelled on the wrong side of Grand Junction Road.

At 2.35am it was spiked again at the intersection of Grand Junction and Hampstead Road.

The pursuit ended when the vehicle came to a stop at Cavan Road, Dry Creek and the driver was arrested.

The driver a 32-year-old man from Davoren Park has been charged with a wrath of traffic offences including, fail to stop, engage in pursuit, drive manner dangerous, due care.

He did not apply for bail and will appear before the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court today.

Investigations are continuing to ascertain if the vehicle was stolen.
