Bikie charged over shopping centre affray

Detectives from the Crime Gangs Task Force have arrested a man following an affray at Oaklands Park.

Police will allege that at about 1.30pm on Tuesday 7 July, a member of the Comanchero Outlaw Motorcycle Gang approached a 19-year-old man and assaulted him at a shopping centre on Diagonal Road.

Fortunately, the victim was not physically injured during the incident.

The alleged offence occurred during a busy school holiday period at the shopping centre and is likely to have caused concern among shoppers, particularly families and children who were present.

Following an investigation, a 21-year-old man from Hackham West was arrested and charged with affray. He was bailed to appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on 7 August.

Officer in Charge of the Serious and Organised Crime Branch, Superintendent Campbell Hill, said the arrest highlighted the Crime Gangs Task Force's commitment to responding quickly to incidents involving outlaw motorcycle gang members.

"There is no place for this type of violent behaviour in our community. Crime Gangs Task Force will continue to target criminal activity linked to outlaw motorcycle gangs," Superintendent Hill said.
