Police investigating break-in at Port Augusta West

About 4.25am on Sunday 26 July, police were called to Park Place in Port Augusta, after reports that three male youths jumped out of a white Toyota Corolla sedan and ran down the street, and back again with multiple bags. The car has then driven off towards Huxtable Street.

Police went to the registered owner’s house and advised her what had occurred.

The victim advised police that her keys had been stolen from inside her house and used to steal her Toyota.

Later on the same day about 8pm, police went to Chinnery Ovel on Donaldson Terrace in Port Augusta West and located the stolen vehicle.

About 7.50am on Sunday 26 July, police attended an automotive garage on Burgoyne Street, Port Augusta West, after reports that the premises had been found open.

Upon arrival, officers located an open door to the garage and identified damage to a roller door, which appeared to have been forced open. Police also observed multiple motorcycle tyre marks on the driveway consistent with burnouts being performed at the location.

CCTV footage was reviewed and shows three people entering the garage at about 5.03am and wheeling three dirt bikes from the premises.

Following further investigations, police have since recovered all three motorcycles.

In the third incident, about 10.22am on the same day, police were called to a business in Simmons Street at Davenport in relation to a break-in at a business.

Police observed a door on the side of the shed that had been damaged with numerous tyre marks on the ground.

It appears that entry was gained by ramming the door with a vehicle. Tools were stolen from inside the property.

Police are following positive lines of enquiry and are trying to determine if the three incidents are linked.
