Breaker arrested at Port Augusta

16 Jun 2026 7:23am

A man has been arrested this morning after allegedly breaking into a golf club in Port Augusta.

Police were called to the property on Hamilton Road, Port Augusta West, about 4.30am on Tuesday 16 June, after reports of an alarm activation at a shed.

On arrival, patrols saw a Toyota ute leaving the address. Police followed the vehicle for a short distance before it sped away.

About 10 minutes later, the ute was located dumped on Barrett Close, where an alleged suspect was arrested nearby.

Police will allege the man broke into an equipment shed at the golf course and stole a Toyota ute belonging to the club.

A 34-year-old Port Augusta man was charged with serious criminal trespass, theft, and possessing break-in tools. He was granted bail to appear in the Port Augusta Magistrates Court on 27 July.
