Opportunistic thieves target cars Whyalla area

Whyalla police are urging the public to “lock it or lose it” after a number of recent car break ins by opportunistic thieves.

During early hours of Tuesday 16 April 2024, police received several reports of cars being broken in to in the Whyalla Jenkins area.

Personal items including cash, wallets and car keys that had been left inside vehicles were stolen. It was found that some of the cars had been left unlocked.

Whyalla Police encourage vehicle owners to:

- Lock your vehicle doors and close windows
- Install and activate an alarm or immobiliser
- Remove all valuables from your vehicle
- Park off the road and if possible in a locked garage
- Whilst at home keep your keys in a safe location
- Do not leave spare keys in your vehicle
