Arrests after Coffin Bay break-in

Two people were arrested and police are searching for a third after a break-in at Coffin Bay overnight.

Police were patrolling Coffin Bay when an alarm activated at the supermarket on the Esplanade, Coffin Bay just before 2am on Tuesday 11 July.

As patrols arrived they saw a white ute with three occupants leaving the scene.

They attempted to stop the vehicle however it failed to stop and was pursued until police successfully spiked the ute's tyres on Hyde Road as it headed towards Port Lincoln.

The vehicle continued for a short distance before the three suspects abandoned the car and fled into the Port Lincoln golf course.

Officers located and apprehended two suspects.

A 27-year-old Port Lincoln man and an 18-year-old Port Lincoln man were arrested and charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass, theft, engage in police pursuit, illegal use and hinder police.  They were refused police bail and will appear in the Port Lincoln Magistrates Court later today.

The Mazda ute was reported stolen from a Port Lincoln address the night before.

A large quantity of stolen property, including cigarettes and alcohol stolen during the break-in, was recovered from the stolen ute.

Investigations are continuing into the stolen property and identifying and locating the third suspect.
