Woman arrested following Adelaide CBD unit fire

Police and fire crews were called to an apartment complex on Old Treasury Lane, Adelaide, at about 10.25am on Wednesday 26 August after reports of a fire.

On arrival, police officers entered the building to assist with the evacuation of residents. Three police officers suffered smoke inhalation and were treated by paramedics at the scene.

Metropolitan Fire Service firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze, containing it to a single apartment and preventing it from spreading to neighbouring units. The apartment sustained significant fire damage, while several nearby units suffered smoke and water damage.

An 18-year-old woman of no fixed address was arrested at the scene and subsequently charged with arson. She was refused police bail and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Thursday 27 August.

Fire cause investigators attended the scene to examine the cause of the fire.
