Three arrested after pursuit in eastern suburbs

07 Sep 2026 6:39am

Three teenagers have been arrested after a car was stolen from the northern suburbs.

About 1.35am today (Monday 7 September), a Mitsubishi Outlander station wagon was stolen from Munno Para West.

About an hour later, police saw the vehicle being driven at high speed on Portrush Road at Toorak Gardens.

When police attempted to stop the vehicle, it slowed down then sped off to head eastbound on the South Eastern Freeway.

The pursuit was terminated, but then the Mitsubishi did a U-turn and headed west back towards the city.

Road spikes were successfully deployed near the old toll gate booth, but the vehicle continued to travel north on Portrush Road.

The car eventually came to a stop on North East Road at Windsor Gardens where the three occupants were arrested.

A 17-year-old Valley View boy, a 16-year-old Munno Para West boy and a 15-year-old boy from Parafield Gardens were charged with numerous offences including illegal use of a motor vehicle, breach of bail and possess prohibited weapon, after a machete was found inside the car.

All three suspects were refused bail and will appear in court today.
