A quick response by Port Augusta patrols has led to the arrest of two teens after a break-in at a Port Augusta school overnight.
About 12.45am on Monday 5 October, police were called to a school on Power Crescent after reports of an alarm activation.
Port Augusta patrols quickly attended and set up cordons around the school. Two suspects were seen running from the premises into nearby scrubland off Clontarf Street, where they were located hiding by patrols.
During a search of the pair, police located a fishing knife and various items suspected of having been stolen from the school.
It will be alleged the pair forced entry to the school, causing damage.
Two 17-year-old boys from Port Augusta were arrested and charged with serious criminal trespass. One of the teens was also charged with possessing a prohibited weapon and theft.
They were granted police bail and will appear in the Port Augusta Youth Court on 4 November.
Police remind local residents to keep an eye on schools during the school holidays and report any suspicious activity or behaviour to the Police Assistance Line on 131 444.
