Arson arrest in CBD

25 Oct 2026 7:35pm

A man has been arrested after allegedly lighting a series of fires in Adelaide this afternoon.

About 3.10pm on Sunday 25 October, police and fire crews responded to a unit block car park on Old Treasury Lane after reports of a camper van fire.

About 30 minutes later another fire was reported to a power board on Angas Street along with two bin fires on Eden Street and Hume Lane.

A witness was able to provide police with the description of a man who was seen just prior to one of the fires being lit.

Eastern District police responded and a man fitting that description was located by patrols in Hume Lane.

Police will also allege the man threatened attending firefighters while they were trying to extinguish one of the fires.

A 33-year-old man of no fixed address has been arrested and charged with three counts of arson and assaulting a prescribed emergency service worker. He did not apply for bail and will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court tomorrow.
