A man has been arrested after allegedly breaking into a car at Welland early this morning.

Just after 2.30am on Thursday 8 October, the occupant of a Frederick Street home alerted police after a man was seen jumping his fence.

A neighbour also reported their car had been broken into.

Western District patrols responded and set up cordons around the area while PD Edge commenced a track.

A man fitting the description provided by witnesses was then located in Bertie Street.

An 18-year-old man from West Hindmarsh was charged with illegal interference of a motor vehicle, being unlawfully on premises and breach of bail. He was refused bail and will appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court today.
