Man arrested for theft of firewood in the Hills

A man has been arrested for stealing firewood in the Hills yesterday.

Just before 5.30pm Monday 26 May, Mount Barker patrols stopped a Toyota Ute on Hillcrest Avenue Crafters West.

Checks on the licence of the driver revealed that he was disqualified from driving.

Police noticed a large amount of firewood in the tray of the Ute and questioned the driver who stated he had entered a premise in Mount Bold and cut down a tree and taken the wood.

A further search of his vehicle located a small amount of methamphetamine.

The 41-year-old man from Crafers West was arrested and has been charged with theft, unlawfully on premises property damage possession of controlled drug and disqualified driving.
