Driver reported after burnouts on Aldinga Beach

1 Nov 2026 6:23am

A P-plater has lost his licence after doing burnouts on the beach whilst over the limit and in an unregistered vehicle.

Just after 6.50pm on Saturday 31 October, Southern District patrols were on Lower Esplanade at Aldinga Beach when they observed a Ford sedan performing burnouts on the sand.

Patrols stopped the driver and submitted him to a breath test which allegedly returned a positive result of 0.061.

Further checks on the 19-year-old driver revealed he was the holder of a provisional class drivers licence that required a zero blood alcohol concentration. The vehicle he was driving was also unregistered.

The Port Noarlunga South man was reported for misuse of a motor vehicle, drink driving, contravening a licence condition and his car impounded for 28-days. He will be summonsed to appear in the Magistrates Court at a later date.

Southern District Police remain committed to the safety of beach users and remind drivers that local drive-on beaches are classified as road-related areas. Motorists are expected to drive responsibly, obey all applicable road laws and maintain a safe speed for the conditions.

Dangerous driving and hoon behaviour on our beaches not only endanger the driver, but also other beach users and can result in significant penalties, including vehicle impoundment, loss of licence and court prosecution.
