A man has been arrested after assaulting police at Port Augusta this morning.
Police were called to a home on Elizabeth Terrace just before 9.30am on Tuesday 16 June after reports of a domestic disturbance.
When police arrived, they attempted to arrest a man who immediately fought with police. Both officers were assaulted by the man before they could call for urgent assistance.
Further patrols responded to restrain him and place him under arrest. Two of those officers were bitten by the suspect while trying to restrain him.
All four officers were treated for minor injuries.
A woman at the home was also taken to hospital with minor injuries after she was allegedly assaulted by the man. They are known to each other.
Police conducted a search of the home and located a sawn-off shotgun, ammunition and a machete.
A 34-year-old man from Port Augusta West was arrested and will be charged later today.
