A man has been arrested after a break-in at Pooraka.
It will be alleged that about 3am today (Monday 29 June), police were called to a block of shops of Research Road after a witness reported seeing two men break into a vacant shop.
When patrols arrived, the two suspects fled the scene and were not located.
About 3.40am, police later found a white Holden Captiva at the intersection of Bridge Road and Maxwell Road.
The man inside attempted to run from police but was tracked down by a police dog.
A search of the man’s car uncovered a machete, large bolt cutters, ammunition and drug paraphernalia.
The 32-year-old Whyalla man was charged with numerous offences including possess prohibited weapon, possess prescription drug, possess ammunition and breach of bail.
He was refused bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court later today.
Enquiries continue regarding the man’s involvement in the break-in and also to locate the other two suspects.
