If you are involved in a vehicle crash you must:
Stop at the scene of the crash. Failing to stop at the scene is against the law.
Assist anyone who is injured.
Call 000 if there is danger or serious injury.
Call 131 444 if you require police assistance.
If involved in a collision where no one has been killed or seriously injured, and if it is safe and possible to do so, you may move your vehicle to a safe location off the road. If a tow truck is needed, you can call the Accident Towing Authority on 8116 9209 (metropolitan area only) or your insurer.
You are required to exchange your information with the other drivers or their representatives and anyone else involved in the crash including the owner of any property damaged at the scene.

If you were transported to hospital and unable to exchange details at the scene, you will need to attend a police station and submit a Freedom of Information request to obtain the other party’s information.

If you want SAPOL to investigate a crash due to breaches of the road rules you must be prepared to assist the police. You will be asked to provide a statement and you may have to go to court.
