Yorke Mid North traffic detections

Just after midnight on Sunday 6 September, Clare Police stopped a four-wheel-drive on Farell Flat Road, Clare for a mobile driver test.  The driver, a 57-year-old North Adelaide man, recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.064.  He was issued with a $1012 fine and four demerit points.

On Sunday afternoon, police were alerted by the public about a potential drink driver.  Police located a man stationary in his vehicle at Hallett.  The 46-year-old Port Augusta man was given a direction not to drive due to his intoxication.  About 7.15pm on Sunday, Burra Police stopped the same man driving on the Wilkins Highway, Jamestown.  He was arrested for failing to obey a direction and driving under the influence.  He was further charged with disorderly behaviour and failing to comply with breath analysis and issued with a 12-month immediate loss of licence.  His vehicle was impounded for 28 days and he was bailed to appear in the Port Pirie Magistrates Court on 19 October.

Just before 7pm on Sunday, Hamley Bridge Police pulled over a vehicle on Balaklava Road, Bowmans after it was allegedly seen straddling lanes.  The driver, a 51-year-old Port Broughton woman, recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.097.  Checks revealed she was currently suspended from driving.  She was reported for drink driving, driving while suspended and other traffic offences and will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.  She was issued with a further six-month loss of licence and her car was impounded for 28 days.

Yorke Mid North Police also detected numerous speeding drivers, including five who were exceeding the speed limit by more than 20 km/h.
