Domestic violence arrest in Adelaide's north-west suburbs

Police were called to a home in the north-western suburbs just before 8am on Thursday 17 September following reports that a woman was being abused by her male partner.

When patrols arrived at the address, the man fled from the property over a rear fence. Police Dog Griffin tracked the man to a nearby carpark where he was arrested.

Checks on the 42-year-old northern suburbs man revealed he was wanted on a Parole Board warrant.

He was charged with multiple counts of assault and property damage in relation to alleged domestic violence incidents over the past two months.

The man was refused police bail and will appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court in the coming days.

In addition to the criminal charges, the man was issued with a Police Interim Intervention Order (PIIO), which provides further protection for the victim. These orders give police greater powers to take immediate action to protect individuals and their families from physical violence, as well as threatening and controlling behaviour.
