Man stopped drink driving at Virginia

A man has lost his car and licence after he was stopped drink driving.

About 12.50pm today Sunday 7 June, police received multiple calls from members of the public about a Ford utility driving erratically on Penfield Road.

With the assistance of quick-thinking members of the public the Ford was stopped on Moloney Road.

The driver a 66-year-old man from Burton was submitted to a driver test where it will be alleged he returned a positive result of 0.262 – more than five times the legal limit.

He was reported for drink driving, driving without due care, issued a 12-month instant loss of licence notice and his car was impounded for 28 days.

He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

Police wish to thank the community for their assistance and timely reporting.
