A driver was arrested after failing to stop for police in the northern suburbs last night.
Northern District patrols spotted a Holden sedan speeding on Main North Road at Elizabeth Park about 9.15pm on Friday 23 October. However, when officers attempted to pull the vehicle over, the driver failed to stop.
It will be alleged the car continued at speed, overtaking other road users and driving through a red light at the intersection of Main North Road and Saints Road.
The pursuit was terminated for safety reasons.
About 15 minutes later, officers spotted the Holden travelling south on Main North Road at Salisbury Plain and covertly followed it at a distance as it travelled towards the north-eastern suburbs.
About 9.45pm, the vehicle pulled into an address at Tea Tree Gully and the driver was swiftly arrested.
The 37-year-old Modbury North man was charged with failing to stop for police, speed dangerous, failing to stop at a red traffic light, drive dangerous to evade police pursuit and hinder police.
He was bailed to appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on 31 December.
The Holden sedan was impounded for 28 days.
