Stolen car arrests Christies Beach

Police have arrested two teens in a stolen car at Christies Beach this evening.

Just before 4pm on Tuesday 8 September, a white Nissan ute was stolen from a home at Murray Bridge.

The stolen ute was then reported to be involved in a petrol drive off at Meadows just before 5pm.

Southern District patrols sighted the vehicle briefly on Flaxmill Road before it was found abandoned at an oval off Smith Avenue, Christies Beach.

Police set up cordons around the area and with the assistance of PD Hank, located two male suspects on Elgin Avenue.

A 19-year-old man from Murray Bridge and a 16-year-old boy from Christies Beach were arrested and charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass, illegal use of a motor vehicle, theft and breach of bail. The youth was further charged with dangerous driving to escape police pursuit and driving unlicenced.

The pair will appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates and Youth courts tomorrow.
