Arrest after an attempt theft at Klemzig

A man has been arrested after attempting to steal from a communication pit this morning.

About 3.30am today Wednesday 24 June, police were called to North East Road to reports of an alarm activation at a cabling pit.

Police were quickly in attendance locating the lid for the pit removed with a beanie, head torch and bolt cutters nearby and a suspect hiding within the pit.

Police arrested the 40-year-old man from Tea Tree Gully without incident.

He was charged with possess an article to commit an offence and dishonestly deal with property without owner’s consent.

He was bailed to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on the 14 August.

The extent of the damage to the cabling and communications pit is yet to be determined.
