Murray Mallee traffic wrap-up

About 10.15am on Friday 28 August, police detected a station wagon travelling at 169 km/h on the Mallee Highway, Peake.  The driver, a 19-year-old ACT man was issued with a $2126 fine and nine demerit points.  He was also issued with a six-month instant loss of licence.

On Friday 28 August, police stopped a B-double on Old Princes Highway, Long Flat for a mobile driver test.  The driver, a 61-year-old Murray Mallee man, tested positive for methamphetamine and cocaine.  It will also be alleged he was not compliant with log book entries and failed to have sufficient rest within a 24-hour period.  He was issued with a three-month loss of licence and will be summonsed to appear in court.

On Saturday 29 August, Loxton Police stopped a vehicle on Old Sturt Highway, Berri for a mobile driver test.  The driver, a 24-year-old Loxton woman, recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.094.  She was reported for drink driving, issued a six-month instant loss of licence and will be summonsed to appear in court.

At 3am on Sunday 30 August, Berri Police were attended a vehicle bogged on Fuller Road, Berri.  The driver, an 18-year-old Nuriootpa man, recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.195.  He was reported for drink driving and breaching the conditions of his provisional licence. He was issued with a 12-month instant loss of licence, and his vehicle was impounded for 28 days.  He will be summonsed to appear in the Berri Magistrates Court.
