Murray Mallee Region has kicked off NAIDOC Week celebrations, with SAPOL members joining local communities across the region to recognise and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, achievements and contributions.

On Monday 6 July, officers from the Riverland and Murray Bridge areas participated in local NAIDOC Week walks and awards ceremonies, engaging with more than 300 First Nations community members.

The same day, officers from the Murray Bridge Crime Prevention Section attended the Premier's NAIDOC Awards luncheon, where more than 500 First Nations people were recognised and celebrated for their achievements and contributions to the community.

SAPOL was proud to have Senior Community Constable First Class Greg Smith APM named as a shortlisted finalist in the Premier's NAIDOC Awards.

SAPOL congratulates all nominees, finalists and award recipients recognised through the Premier's NAIDOC Awards and local NAIDOC Week celebrations.

NAIDOC Week provides an important opportunity to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples while strengthening connections between police and the communities they serve.
