Limestone Coast traffic wrap up

Police have reported a number of drivers for drink and drug driving offences across the Limestone Coast over the weekend.

About 4:50pm on Friday 8 May, police stopped a 19-year-old Naracoorte woman on Rolland Street, Naracoorte for a driver test. She returned a positive drug test and was reported for drug driving. She will be issued with a three-month immediate loss of licence and will appear in court at a later date.

At 5:25pm the same day, a 45-year-old Hahndorf man was stopped while driving a Kenworth B-double on the Riddoch Highway at Tarpeena for a driver test. He allegedly recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.135. He was reported for drink-driving, issued with a six-month immediate loss of licence notice and will appear in court at a later date.

About 7:30pm, a 25-year-old Tarpeena man was stopped on Ferrers Street, Mount Gambier for a driver test. He provided a positive drug test for cocaine and was issued with a fine and a three-month immediate loss of licence notice.

Ten minutes later, at  7:40pm, a 26-year-old Woolumbool man was stopped on Country Club Road, Lucindale. He allegedly recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.084. He was reported for drink-driving, issued with a six-month immediate loss of licence notice and his car was impounded for 28 days. He will appear in court at a later date.

At about 11:50pm, police stopped a 19-year-old Millicent woman on Commercial Street West, Mount Gambier after she allegedly failed to indicate and failed to obey a stop sign. She allegedly recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.088 and was reported for drink-driving She received an expiation notice, a six-month immediate loss of licence notice and will appear in court at a later date.

On Saturday 9 May at 11:35am, a 50-year-old Tarpeena man was stopped on the Riddoch Highway at Tarpeena. He tested positive to cannabis and will be issued with a fine and a three-month immediate loss of licence notice.

Later that day at 5:20pm, a 28-year-old Robe woman was stopped on the Dukes Highway at Pine Hill. Police will allege she tested positive to methamphetamine and was driving whilst holding a cancelled interstate licence. She will be issued with a fine and a three-month immediate loss of licence.

Police remind all motorists that drink and drug driving remains a major cause of serious and fatal crashes. Drivers are urged to plan ahead, obey road rules and never drive under the influence.
