A man has been arrested after being stopped by police in Mount Gambier.
About 2.45am on Friday 23 October, police saw a Holden SS ute travelling at speed on Queens Street, Mount Gambier. Patrols searched the area and the vehicle was intercepted a short time later at the intersection of Penola Road and Wireless Road East.
Checks revealed the driver, a 50-year-old Mount Gambier man, was currently suspended from driving due to a drug-driving offence. He was arrested and taken to Mount Gambier Police Station.
On arrival at the station, the man allegedly refused to comply with the collection of an oral fluid sample after returning a positive drug screening test.
The man was charged with driving while disqualified and refusing to provide an oral fluid sample. He was granted police bail and will appear in the Mount Gambier Magistrates Court on 8 December.
He was issued with a six-month immediate loss of licence and his ute was impounded for 28 days.
