Serious assault in Beachport

Emergency services responded to the Southern Ports Highway just after 2pm on Monday 12 May after reports of an assault.

Patrols arrived and found a 44-year-old man with significant injuries to his head and face. He was treated by SA Ambulance and conveyed to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Following investigations by Limestone Coast police, a 58-year-old local man was arrested and charged with assault causing harm. He was refused bail and will appear in the Mount Gambier Magistrates Court today.

The incident was not random with the two men being known to each other.
